Limericks

There once was a cat from Mars.
All the while she hoped to drive cars.
So she stole a Ford Pick-Up,
And went to the bank, caused a stick up.
That criminal cat from Mars.

I once met a man from L.A.
Every day he made molds of clay.
But whenever he tried to dry 'em.
The molds got cracks inside 'em.
That strange man I met from L.A.

Adjective poems

Fluffy
Try and stuff an empty puppy,
It becomes nice and puffy.

Lazy
A sloth feeling takes my brain,
To be as boring as I can

Flying Terror

It's teeth are like white daggers,
Ready to plunge into the body of its victim.
And become coated with blood.
The terrorizing fangs of this creature are capable of slicing through skin on contact.
The jawbone of this monster is a vice grip that can rip off chunks of flesh.
Its screech is a mighty growl of fear and horror with an eerie echo.
It is such a fear striking cry.
Its wings are leather. The wings of this creature are like a birds without feathers.
The wings are capable of retracting and widening at the creatures command.
Its feet are hooks to hang the rest of its body off of the branches of trees.
Again the horrific monster lets out its mighty roar like a lion.
Again the howl echoes across the landscape.
The stare of the beast is unthinking and unfeeling. This creature never feels remorse for its prey.
Its stare is a missile locked onto its food.
This beast is a bullet waiting to be fired.
The sun has risen,
The flying terror is scared.
Its eyes close with fear.
The flying terror is now harmless.

Caged Bird Response

I think that this caged bird is singing in memory of its freedom. I think that singing of its freedom is as close to freedom as the caged bird will get. Even if the caged bird is freed it cannot fly because its wings are clipped. The birds clipped wings are a permanent reminder of how the caged bird was once someones property, like the scars on a slaves back.
I think that it is interesting how throughout the entire poem the caged bird is being compared with a free bird. I think that this might be symbolizing the differences between slaves and the people still in Africa. The caged bird gets to fly freely without a care in the world, but the caged bird "stands on the grave of dreams."

I know why the caged bird sings response

What I think that this poem means is that the caged bird sings of freedom because singing of freedom is as close to freedom as it will get. The caged bird is trapped in the cage for the rest of its life, so it sings. The caged bird will never truly be free because its wings are clipped, so even if it is set free it can't fly. Its wings are a permanent reminder that it was once trapped in a cage with nothing to do but sing.

Abstract.

Sadness is like a lost dream
Anger is like a charging bull
Hunger is like the misfortune of an empty stomach
friendship is like an unbreakable bond
confusion is like an unanswered question mark
gluttony is like the fill of a satisfied soul

Slave Poem

I have been hurt
I have been tortured
The people trick me
My mind tricks me
my privledges have been stolen
My freedom has been stolen
My life has been stolen
I have been stolen
