Langston Hughes Response
Langston Hughes wrote the poem “I, Too.” This Poem is from the perspective of the slaves. The poems message is that someday the people will see how beautiful the slaves are and be ashamed.
The elements of poetry used in this poem are figure of speech, alliteration, and imagery. For example “Eat in the kitchen’ is used often in this poem. In the poem it says “Tommorow, I’ll sit at the table when company comes.” This is a figure of speech.
I like how the poem says he will get stronger and once it’s over they’ll be ashamed. This poem reminds me of the Chinese people working in sweatshops for three cents an hour.
